Somalia’s Deputy Minister of Information, Abdirahman Yusuf Omar, has said that the Somali government has reached an agreement with Minister Abdirashid Hassan Abdinur Janan, after a delegation from the Somali government arrived in Gedo region today.
“Minister Abdirashid Janan, a key figure in the peace process in the Gedo region, has reached an agreement with the Somali government.
The deputy information minister added that Janan met with him on the outskirts of Beled-hawo district in Gedo region with a large contingent of troops who will join the national army.
“This move is pleasing to anyone who loves the Somali state, and it will shock anyone who is hostile to our nation,” he concluded.
Demonstrations took place in parts of Gedo region today to welcome the agreement.
The Gedo region has been severely affected by the drought that is prevalent in parts of Somalia and the violence born out of the conflict which officially ended today thanks to this agreement.
