Ethiopian Foreign Ministry spokesman Dina Mufti said the news that Somali troops are fighting in Tigray is a fabrication.
Mr. Mufti has denied that Somali forces were involved in the fighting against the Tigray rebels, the TPLF, in the northern Ethiopian region of Tigray.
“We have seen reports that Eritrean troops have crossed the border into Ethiopia. We have also seen similar reports of Somali soldiers taking part in the fighting. “Both stories are baseless fabrications,” the spokesman said.
The move came after Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee in a letter to President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo requesting a response to complaints made by parents whose sons were sent to Eritrea for military training.
