President Farmajo Briefs Parliament On Elections Issues

The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, HE Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo, addressed a special session of the House of the People of the Federal Parliament of Somalia on the situation in the country and the electoral process, and called for a return to the September 17 agreement governing the country’s electoral process.

The President pointed to the significant efforts made by the government in holding elections that reflect the country’s progress, with priority given to ensuring unity and solidarity in the country’s political and democratic process.

“The government is committed to holding snap elections in accordance with the September 17 agreement and the recommendations of the Technical Committee on February 16, 2021. However, we have not been able to overcome the challenges of hand-to-hand combat for specific purposes. and distorted interests. ”

The President stressed that the Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, His Excellency Mohamed Hussein Roble, will lead the preparation, implementation and security of the elections, so that the elections can take place in a peaceful and stable environment.

“I have instructed the Prime Minister to organize and invite the signatories of the agreement of 17 September 2020, to implement that agreement and the technical recommendations made at the Baidoa conference on 16 February 2021. Therefore, I urge the Government to prepare for this large-scale task. before you. ”

The President of the Republic urged the people of Somalia to promote peace and unity among the Somali people, and to stand by our Armed Forces, calling on politicians to work for the common good and refrain from inciting the public and any action against security.
