Enough With The Election Deadlock

The federal election is blocked by unruly politicians but longer we wait, the more difficult it will be. Somali people are saying: enough with the election deadlock!

Somali people are tired of listening to a minority of politicians dragging the reputation of the nation in the mud.

President Farmajo has shown multiple times to the world that some regional leaders, in particular Said Deni and Madobe, are wittingly trying to block the elections.

If the disruptive actions of the two rebel leaders, who always question any attempt to sit down with the president and the leaders of other regions, is not enough to convince of their real intentions, I do not know how those who still push for a consensus can be persuaded.

Somalis are fed up with being held hostage by crooked politicians. We should go to elections as soon as possible, using the infamous 4.5 system, regional states that are ready for the polls and elders representing Somaliland, Puntland, Jubaland regions.

We can’t stop the time for the International community, specifically Western nations representatives, who doesn’t want to do anything to assist the country but to add oil to fire.

Somalis can’t bear their threats to sanction the federal government if it goes to polls without Puntland and Jubaland or request an extension of its mandate.

The two Americans, the EU representative, Norway, Sweden, UK, in particular, are indirectly and directly fueling an illegitimate opposition to stall the elections by giving them some legitimacy to their unrealistic demands.

Enough is enough!

Somalis need their government to focus its energy to unite the country, improve the security in the streets and in the regions, fight the drought and poverty, not to court an opposition whose only demands are a reversal of all the gains the past governments made.

Enough is enough!

Farmajo should deal with African Union, the Arab League, Turkey, China and other non compromised countries interested in having mutual respect and fair business deals with Somalia. That’s the only way to move forward, not stagnate and wait for something that is not coming.

Enough is enough!

They want some elections, they should get the “one man one vote” that would put the normal Somali man in control of his future and not abandon his right to choose to corrupt individuals like Deni and Madobe.

To get there, the Parliament must take its responsibilities and give two more years for the government, so necessary legislations are passed, population census be done, and the country move forward.

Enough is enough!
