Former President Ali Mahdi received a State Funeral in Mogadishu

The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, HE Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo, joined the Janazah (funeral) prayer for the late President Ali Mahdi Mohamed, who was laid to rest in Mogadishu.

The plane carrying the body of President Ali Mahdi Mohamed landed at Aden Adde International Airport in Mogadishu.

The funeral was attended by the Speakers of both Houses of the People, the Prime Minister, the President of Hirshabelle, the Benadir region governor, former presidents, MPs, ministers, SNA officers, Elders, religious scholars, relatives and various sections of society.

Following the burial, President Farmajo offered his condolences to the family and relatives of the late President Ali Mahdi.

He said the national honor bestowed on President Ali Mahdi Mohamed by the Somali Government reflects how the Somali people and government remember him for his role in governing the country and his commitment to the restoration of Somali government.

Ugas Mohamud Ali Ugas and the sons of the deceased, Liban Ali Mahdi and Mahdi Ali Mahdi, thanked President Farmajo and other Somali leaders for their warm support and the national funeral for the late President Ali Mahdi Mohamed.
