Banadir Regional Administration has issued fines to people who do not use face masks to prevent COVID-19 Infection.
An extraordinary meeting of the Banadir Regional Administration chaired by the Governor of Banadir Region and Mayor of Mogadishu Mr. Omar Mohamud Mohamed Filish discussed the latest developments about COVID-19 and the progress of the awareness campaign in 17 districts of Banadir region.
The meeting lasted for several hours and it was agreed to introduce the wearing of face masks, and those who do not comply with this directive will be fined.
People in Banadir region are ordered to wear face masks every time they leave their homes. Anyone who does not wear them will be fined five dollars or will be taken to the nearest police station.
As for businesses, they will be liable to a fine of up to $50 if they allow their customers to enter their premises without a mask.
The Banadir regional administration has instructed the security agencies to carry out the directives issued by the administration to combat the spread of COVID-19 which is on the rise in Somalia.
